What are Peptides?

Peptides are like tiny messengers in your body, made up of short chains of amino acids, which are the building blocks of proteins. Think of them as miniature versions of proteins that are easier for your body to absorb. When taken as health supplements, peptides can give your body specific instructions, like boosting collagen production for better skin health, enhancing muscle growth, or aiding in weight loss. They work by signaling your cells to perform certain functions more efficiently, like healing or rejuvenating. It’s like giving a little nudge to your body’s natural processes, helping you to feel healthier and more vibrant.

Peptides that are prescribed from compounding pharmacies must follow USP guidelines. These guidelines help maintain quality healthcare standards and processes which protect patients from receiving harmful or improperly made preparations. Compounding Pharmacies are under the supervision of the Board of Pharmacy also. These stringent USP guidelines and Board of Pharmacy regulations, ensure that patients receive quality medications. Peptides provided by these pharmacies require a prescription from a licensed healthcare provider.

Peptides purchased through online shops are very different. Some of the concerns with online Peptide suppliers include:

  • Online suppliers are not required to provide or perform any testing on their products through licensed labs.
  • Often online suppliers will label products for “research purposes” or “ not for human use” to bypass any testing and quality assurance requirements for their products.
  • There is no regulatory body in place to assure the safety, composition, ingredients, and dosage form of the peptides being purchased.
  • There is no requirement for a doctor’s prescription in order for individuals to legally purchase peptides online.
  • There is no regulation or requirement in place to verify the suppliers are using pharmaceutical grade ingredients. Many online suppliers use fillers and/or byproducts in their peptides, Include additives which might be harsh or harmful, add unnecessary ingredients to the peptides, diluting their efficiency/effectiveness.
  • Online suppliers are often operating outside the United States, where there is no oversight or regulation.
